Upon retirement from the U.S. Navy in 2012 as a career Submarine Officer, Doug was ordained as an Elder on the Session of McLean Presbyterian Church in McLean Virginia in 2013.

After Doug and his wife moved to Southeast CT in 2022, he was installed as an Elder on the Session of Covenant Presbyterian Church in 2023.  Doug then assumed duties as Treasurer in the spring of 2024.
